Ballpoint pen
Every drawing begins with a light pencil sketch on Bristol board, a multi-ply archival paper with a smooth surface. Then, overtop the original drawing, I fill in value with ballpoint pen through numerous layers of crosshatching.

My ballpoint pen drawings are created by layering MANY thin pen lines, known as crosshatching.
This meditative technique builds beautiful texture that is soft and realistic, yet edgy and unique.
